As I have found, through my clients, there are many types of family heritage books and many reasons to create one. But, here are three common scenarios. Do any of these apply to you? The desire to connect and share with your loved ones is fundamental to most. And there are not many better gifts to give yourself, or your closest family than a book that helps learn, or appreciate why family is so important.
Scenario #1: You have a set of family archives –photographs, letters, memories, and stories– that you have been meaning to organize, so you can rediscover and share what is amazing about them and why they are so valuable to you and your family. But, years have passed and you are not sure where to start, or how to share the most important parts of your family heritage with those you love most. Scenario #2: You have done work to discover your family history, but your genealogy site is digital and static and difficult to share in meaningful ways with your loved ones. I have experienced this myself. So many do. Genealogical sites are wonderful tools, but to really take advantage of these tools, we have to transform that “information” into meaningful visual stories! Then, they can be shared in ways that others will value! Scenario #3: You are feeling nostalgic and reminiscing a lot lately. Or, maybe, you, or a loved one are starting to feel like it is more difficult to recall the most meaningful memories that you have enjoyed sharing for years. You have good days, and fuzzy days, but you know that you have some important life experiences that you want to capture for those you love, including your children and grandchildren. It doesn’t have to be a full autobiography to make a big impact!
